I loved the idea of welcoming people into my home… but as a Highly Sensitive Person (HSP), the reality often left me drained.

It took me a while to realize: hosting doesn’t have to mean performing. It can mean creating a gentle landing place, for my guests and for me.

Life can be hectic with work, family, meals, cleaning, hobbies etc. I’d like to believe that my guests benefit from the quiet and calm I provide. A peaceful haven in the midst of their busy lives.

  • Prep early. Get the guest room or space ready early. Do a little at a time instead of one big push.
  • Keep mornings quiet. A “help yourself” breakfast basket lets guests ease into the day, no pressure for early conversation.
