Tangled-Inspired Bridal Shower

Hosting a Tangled-inspired bridal shower for my oldest daughter, who has always adored the sweet, cheerful, and friendly Rapunzel from the movie, was an absolute blast.

You could go very big with this theme by creating a tower and surrounding the guests with flower garlands, art, lanterns, and all kinds of fun. Or you could make it truly unique by creating a tavern atmosphere, a twist that will intrigue your guests.

The bridal shower I hosted was simple, the focus was on twinkling lights and the color purple.

Simple Table Setting

The bride-to-be loved the idea of a Tangle-inspired bridal shower, with a focus on purple, gold, and twinkling lights.

Notice the mismatched chairs? Originally, I planned to host a small bridal shower for 8-10 people. However, as plans changed and we invited more guests, I got creative with the seating, hence the various chairs.

Twinkling Lights – DIY Lanterns

Whenever I’m hosting a party, I like to look around the house to see if I already have something I can use as decorations. Instead of purchasing lanterns, I transformed domed cupcake stands into unique “lanterns”.

Adorned with fairy lights, these cupcake stand lanterns added a touch of elegance to my party setup. This fairy lights set is my favorite. They have a cozy, warm glow, and the wire is copper-colored.

The addition of beautiful candle holders brought an extra twinkle, creating an enchanting atmosphere.

One of the tables had the cupcake stand lanterns, and the other one candy jar lanterns.

“I’m Where I’m Meant to Be” – Banner

If you have seen the romantic Tangled lantern scene, you might recognize these lyrics: “I’m Where I’m Meant to Be” from the I See the Light song. I thought it was very fitting as a bridal shower banner.

I was delighted to stumble upon this lovely wrapping paper at HomeGoods. Its pretty floral pattern was a perfect match for the bridal shower theme.

Purple and Gold Place Setting

I was pleased with this set of gold-rimmed plates and cups, which also included gold forks, knives, and spoons. The purple color was just what I was looking for.

Each place setting was adorned with a conversation starter. The original plan for an intimate bridal shower was to go through these together, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere for the bride-to-be to interact with each guest.

Conversation Starter Ideas

• Where did you go on your honeymoon, or where would you like to go?
• How do you know the bride-to-be?
• What is your favorite reception activity?
• Name three things you like about weddings.
• What advice would you give to the bride-to-be?
• What was your first dance song, or what would you like it to be?

Pretty Flowers

Vibrant pink and purple flowers are always a good choice for a Rapunzel-themed party, whether a bridal shower or a birthday party.

I’m sure you noticed the tiny flowers we scattered on the purple chiffon table runners. The colors were muted but went so well with the cozy lantern theme.

Where Were They Game

For entertainment we had the conversation starters, a lovely devotional, where were they game, and line dancing.

What You Need

• Photos of the engaged couple in various places. It could be anything, from restaurants and parks to landmarks and foreign countries.
• A place to display the photos.
• Paper and pens.

Prep

• Number the photos and create a display.
• Write down the answers with extra options either on the gamesheet or a separate paper to be placed on the game table.

How to Play

• The guests try to match the picture with the correct place.

I used a corkboard as the display. And attached the photos to the board with mini clothespins and curling ribbon. I made the number labels and added fairy lights to make the game theme-fitting.

Since most of the pictures would have been quite hard to identify, I added some small hints to a few of them, for example, a sprig of holly for Holly, Michigan. This ensured the game was engaging and enjoyable for everyone. What fun would it be if you didn’t even have a chance?

When it was time for the answers, the bride-to-be shared some sweet and humorous stories related to the photos. It added a personal touch to the game and made it even more engaging.

Theme-Fitting Game Prize

The winner of the game received this pretty solar-powered lantern I purchased from Michael’s.

Food Tents

I made theme-fitting food tents that listed the ingredients.

This theme gives you many ideas for creative food names, but I kept it simple. We served a variety of desserts, including cookies, chocolate, sour cream blueberry bars, coconut cake, and strawberry muffins, alongside our main dishes of green salad with grilled chicken, potato salad, and strawberry Caprese salad.
