At The Beast’s Library, you’ll be greeted by some whimsical characters, like Chip, that inspired this party. I purchased the cup a couple of years ago and it had been waiting for the right moment ever since then.
And that moment arrived when I was planning a birthday party for my husband, The Owl. That’s my blog nickname for him, the wise owl, perched on a tree branch with his pile of books.
Having three daughters, he has seen his fair share of Disney princess movies, Beauty and the Beast being his favorite. As I was pondering the party, and a theme within the theme came up: The Beast’s Library. How fitting for the book-loving Owl!
To create a French 18th century-inspired library, I needed some decor that brought it all together. Little signs with a word or a phrase tickle my imagination and help me to enter the story. And I’d like to think, I’m not the only one who likes those.

I printed all the signs on ivory paper. But cardstock works better for the bookmarks and signs that are not framed.
Styling Ideas
The main sign declares the theme: The Beast’s Library – a night of stories. That one is just right for a shelf or the entrance table.
The map, a little torn, and wrinkled enhances the atmosphere when it is layered with a tray, books, and maybe a candle and a magnifying glass.
The bookmarks and other little signs bring in magic and whimsy when strategically tucked in books, an opened envelope, and by visiting characters from the story. You can even use the bookmarks as party favors.
