Close your eyes and picture dancing under the moonlight to the oh, so romantic Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller. This beautiful tune inspired our theme for February. A theme that is intimate, dreamy, and filled with melodies and love.
Moonlight Serenade theme is not tied to one season; you can reach for it whenever you want to create a luminous, pearl-soft atmosphere for your home or any romantic gathering, like anniversary parties.

The Melody of the Theme
The lovely atmosphere was created with a gentle repetition and a few meaningful objects:
- Candlelight
- Lace
- Pearls
- Sheet music
- Mercury glass
- Soft metallics
The Dining Table – A Path of Candlelight

I wanted to keep the everyday look for the dining table simple and uncluttered. I started with a delicate silver lace table runner as a base and added rounded mercury votives along it, creating a glowing ribbon of light.
This set up gave me a pretty, sparkly winter theme for celebrating love.
For our Valentine’s Moonlight Serenade waffle night, I shifted the table slightly into a party version, which I’ll be sharing in a separate post.
The Coffee Table – Moonlight Serenade in Music

In our living room, the gorgeous storybook coffee table received a romantic centerpiece featuring Moonlight Serenade sheet music as a quiet nod to the name.
A heart sculpture, a string of pearls overlapping the sheet music, and a little paper doily are the focal points. While the mercury votive candle holder gives a beautiful, soft glow.
All these were placed on a round silver placemat layered on top of a lace trimmed square doily.
In the evenings the reflective surfaces catch the light and make everything even more enchanting.
The Sideboard – Romantic Gazebo

When I was planning the sideboard set up, I pictured a couple slow dancing in a gazebo under the moonlight.
I saw the band playing on the left, the dance space in the middle, and the right side filled with romance.
The whole scene takes place under the moonlight. So, I adorned the wreath on the mirror with a white organza ribbon (3/4″ wide) with its tails reaching almost to the edge of the mirror like moon rays.

On the left side, stacks of books formed the steps to the gazebo. And a wooden candle holder, standing tall on the books with a softly flickering candle, created a post.
A whisper of evening glow softly flows with a strip of organza ribbon, it curls around the candles like a melody from the heart-shaped music box.
As the music plays, the gazebo invites you to dance.

On the right side, a beautiful lantern radiates as the dim, main light source. A blush and ivory bouquet rests on the books as someone had just set it down and stepped on the dance floor.
A blush wine glass was carefully placed on the railing before the last dance under the moonlight.
This romantic vignette evokes feelings of closeness, softness, hopes, and dreams.
The China Cabinet – Naming the Season

The china cabinet welcomes you as you enter the main area of our home, so I like to use this space to announce the current seasonal or party theme. This time, it had a framed Moonlight Serenade sign: a free printable for you.
I keep the basic structure the same throughout the year, but add a new sign and a few seasonal items. If you’re interested, I’d like to share seasonal china cabinet decorating ideas with you.
A Romantic Theme for Anniversaries and Wedding Showers

Moonlight Serenade is a romantic theme suitable for any time of the year for anniversaries, birthdays, and wedding showers. For summer, I’d swap some of the silver to soft white or ivory, and I’d use amber or rose gold in the autumn.
Music, flowers, lace, pearls, candlelight… a beautiful beginning for a romantic atmosphere.
A Storybook Note
“I stand at your gate and the song that I sing is of moonlight...”
May this year bring you romantic moments and dancing under the moonlight.
With warmth and a storybook sprinkle,
