Want to keep it simple? Then you’ll like this Lemonade Party Menu!
Planning the party food can be a real challenge, right?
I like simple recipes that are free of cane sugar, artificial coloring, flavors, etc. Those aren’t always easy to come by, so I often end up modifying the recipes. I will to link to the original recipes and give you my modifications.
As I searched for ideas, a theme began to form… Greece!
Welcome to Relaxed Hostess, where the ideas are written by actual human beings: me and, occasionally, my daughter. I’m so excited to share with you my love for party planning and hospitality in general. Glad to have you here!

Main Course: The Best Greek Marinated Chicken
This Greek chicken dish from Foodiecrush turned out so well, and it met all my requirements of being
- easy to make
- quick to make
- no artificial ingredients
- no soy or sugar
- no hard-to-find stuff
I needed gluten-free recipes for this party, and this one is that too!
The yogurt-based marinade was easy to make, and the chicken came out very tender. I let the chicken marinate for 3 hours, but even 30 minutes is sufficient if time is an issue. I cooked the chicken in the oven at 400F for about 20 minutes.
The recipe calls for the juice of 4 lemons. One lemon yields about 2 to 3 TBS of juice, so if you do some quick math, you’ll need 8-12 TBS of lemon juice.
It can get pretty lemony here with all the lemon dishes. So, even though this is a lemonade party, you can substitute the lemon juice with apple cider vinegar or wine when preparing this dish.
Side Dish: Greek Broccoli Pasta Salad
This Greek Broccoli Pasta Salad from The Recipe Critic does not contain lemons but it goes well with lemon chicken. I used gluten-free pasta so everyone I invited could eat it.
This one was amazing. At the party, I served it cold, but ate the leftovers heated, and they were delicious.
Other Simple Side Dishes
Rice is always an easy option that pairs well with chicken. And if another side dish is needed, I’d go with a simple garden salad or a spring mix with mandarin orange slices.
Pink Lemonade Cheesecake Bites
As you can see in the picture, my cheesecake bites weren’t pink.
I modified the Pink Lemonade Cheesecake Bites recipe from Kitchen Fun With My 3 Sons. The recipe calls for pink food coloring, which I did not want to use. Some fantastic pink food coloring substitutes include beet juice and raspberries boiled with water (strained).
These cheesecake bites were a hit! A perfect combo of sweet and sour.
Modifications:
- no pink food coloring
- honey instead of sugar, I used only 1/4 cup
- homemade gluten-free cheesecake crust
- homemade raspberry sauce
Gluten-Free Cheese Cake Crust
The recipe for the gluten-free cheesecake crust can be found at Hunger Thirst Play. It’s easy, but if you want something quick, I’d use gluten-free graham cracker crumbs.
Modifications:
- I used coconut sugar
Raspberry Sauce
I love this homemade raspberry sauce. It could have been used as a food coloring for the whole thing, but it worked great for making a fun swirl on each cheesecake bite.
This is how I make the raspberry sauce.
- 1 c raspberries
- 1 TBS honey
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 2 tsp water
- Bring raspberries, honey, and lemon juice to a boil over medium heat.
- Mix cornstarch with water. And stir into the raspberry sauce. Cook for 1-2 minutes.
- Strain and cool.
Brownie Mini Desserts
I never thought I would like black bean brownies, but I do. This is the best recipe I have tried so far: Black Bean Brownies from Eating Bird Food.
The fudgy, delicious brownies, made with an unexpected ingredient – black beans, are fantastic!
Modification:
- When we make these, we use avocado oil instead of coconut oil since my soon-to-be son-in-law does not like coconuts.
For chocolate chips, try HU Chocolate, made with coconut sugar. It is delicious (and does not taste like coconut).
Raspberry Mousse
The brownies would taste amazing with lemon mousse, but I wanted to try something different. So, I whipped up a batch of raspberry mousse. I’m glad I did. It was heavenly! The mousse’s soft pink color added a delightful touch.
I found the Easy Raspberry Mousse recipe at Kitchen Cents. It’s amazing! With just 5 ingredients, it’s a breeze to make. This is definitely going to be my go-to mousse recipe. This mousse needs to be in the fridge for a few hours before serving, so plan accordingly.
Modification:
- honey instead of sugar (I used only 1/3 cup)
How to Make the Brownie Mini Dessert
All you need are little cups. Start with a layer of brownies and top it with mousse. Optional: Add some chocolate shavings or a small lemon wedge. You could also spread the mousse on top of the brownies in the baking dish.
Lemon Cookies
I baked tasty and easy lemon cookies using a recipe from Live Well Bake Often. The cookies turned out wonderfully soft and packed with flavor, thanks to the lemon juice and extract.
My Modification:
- coconut sugar, only 1/2 cup
- for the flour, I used 1 cup of soft wheat and 3/4 cup of all-purpose flour
Sparkling Lemonade
This is a lemonade party, so lemonade must be served, right?
I searched high and low for the perfect lemonade recipe without sugar and artificial ingredients.
This Sparkling Pink Lemonade from The Conscious Plant Kitchen fits the bill. It is EASY to make and tastes absolutely divine!
I made two variations, one with all strawberries and another with watermelon and strawberries, and both were amazing. The lemonade has a strong flavor, so add extra water to dilute it if needed.

How to Throw a Refreshing Lemonade Party
Celebrate the summer with a delightful lemonade party. This theme brings sweet, bright vibes to any event, including birthday parties and bridal showers. Whether you choose yellow, pink, or a combination of both, this theme is refreshing.
I hosted a small lemonade-themed party on the first day of spring and decided on a pink and yellow lemonade combo theme.
It was a SIMPLE party with friends. We had great discussions and enjoyed tasty main and side dishes and delicious desserts. And the best lemonade, of course.
