Our spring decor on the coffee table tells stories.
I have always loved lilies of the valley, the delicate, bell-shaped flowers that bloomed in the woods, just behind my childhood home. They marked the arrival of spring and the warmer days ahead.
Perhaps that is why, even now, they feel like the beginning of a story.
Inspired by that feeling, I created a spring centerpiece for the coffee table, guided by lily of the valley and the simple discoveries of the season, the small stories that unfold along the path.

A Spring Story Begins on the Coffee Table
A coffee table is a perfect spot for creating a spring vignette.
This coffee table, The Storybook Coffee Table, as I call it, is my favorite piece of furniture, and I love to create little story moments on it, whether it is about spring discoveries or romantic moments like Moonlight Serenade.
The table with its carved top is like a story itself, so I don’t want to hide it, but let it whisper its tales in the background.
As I began to imagine the spring story, I pictured a light, airy, and a bit playful scene, without forgetting the main theme behind it: discoveries.
A Childhood Memory of Lily of the Valley in Bloom

The idea for the Storybook Cottage: Spring Discoveries theme began with the lily of the valley and my childhood memories of wandering through the woods behind our home, noticing the fairytale-like blossoms tucked beneath the leaves.
Those times in the forest were magical, full of possibilities, and new things waiting to be noticed in each season.
Styling a Spring Coffee Table with Lily of the Valley
The Storybook Coffee Table scene started with a lily of the valley. A little stem… in this case, a faux one, but cute nevertheless.
I wanted the blossoms to look as if they had just been picked and carefully laid down. And since the delicate blossoms are the key element, the base needed to be something that would not compete for the attention, like a white-washed rattan tray lined with a square lace-trimmed linen doily.
To keep the scene from feeling flat, a book with a watercolor cover in soft greens and white adds a layer of height, lifting the arrangement just enough to create dimension.
I placed a small, beige doily on the book, creating a soft place to rest a tiny nest with speckled eggs, a cute find from Hobby Lobby.
I finished the setting with a playful yet elegant ceramic bunny, perfect for a Storybook Cottage-style home.
A Bunny, a Book, and a Basket of Blooms

Step into the story as it unfolds.
On a quiet spring morning, a bunny wanders along a sunlit forest path, where lilies of the valley bloom beneath the leaves. He pauses, noticing a small nest with speckled eggs.
He tilts his head, nose twitching.
The lily of the valley chimes faintly in the gentle breeze, and the tiny eggs glow with a promise of something yet to be.
“Spring is here,” he whispers, and continues down the path, where more quiet discoveries await.

When a Coffee Table Arrangement Begins to Feel Like Spring

I intentionally left breathing room in the tray instead of cramming it full of objects, creating a light and airy feel, just like a spring morning in the woodlands.
But the arrangement still needed something.
And that something was a few green sprigs peeking from under the tray as if it had been set on the side of the forest path.
Simple Spring Coffee Table Decorating Ideas
It doesn’t take much to create a spring centerpiece.
Start with a woven basket or tray. Soften it with a delicate doily or a cloth napkin, and add a bit of height with a book or a box of chocolates. Sprinkle in seasonal flowers and greenery. And add a couple of whimsical items, such as a bunny, bird, or eggs, to finish the scene.
A Playful Spring Moment to Return to

As I sit on the couch and enjoy my afternoon tea, I see this spring scene, and it makes me smile. It truly reminds me of the childhood summers in a gentle, dreamlike way.
And that is what Storybook Cottage life is about, noticing, living, and remembering.
A Storybook Note
The arrangement will change with the season. But for now, a small spring story is unfolding on the Storybook Coffee Table.
With warmth and a storybook sprinkle,
